Contact usWe currently have volunteering opportunities across the organisation, within our four family and community hubs, in Penyrenglyn, Penygraig, Dinas and Rhydyfelin, and in our social enterprises including The Factory in Porth, The Play Yard in Ynyswen and the Old Library shop in Penygraig. Each location offers a unique volunteering experience, working within different programme areas and with a variety of people.
Our youth arts provision, Sparc, also offers a variety of volunteering opportunities across the youth arts spectrum (costumes, lighting, writing, being part of a production team). There’s lots of scope for gaining skills and experience through volunteering.
Volunteers play an essential role in the projects, activities and support we offer communities. They strengthen our resources, enhance the richness of what we offer, have lived-experience and hold networks of friends and family that enable us to connect with and support more local people in need.
The motivation of our volunteers varies, from people who have accessed our services and for whom volunteering benefits their wellbeing and offers a chance for personal development, to people who want to positively contribute to their community and the lives of others.
We want to retain and attract volunteers across generations, from young people and young adults who want to do more for their community and gain experiences and qualifications, to individuals and older people who may face inactivity and isolation.
The volunteering experience with Valleys Kids is dynamic and unique and we have a range of opportunities on offer in each of our hubs and centres, including admin, marketing, reception, taking bookings, working in one of our cafes or our charity shop or volunteering to help out with one of our many projects.
