Overview

Access to play has long been an essential principle of our work as it is fundamental to every child’s development. We provide opportunities for children to be themselves, have fun and experience new things.

Our preschool Stay and Play clubs for parents and toddlers provide free access to toys and activities that may otherwise be financially out of reach and provide opportunities for essential social interaction for both children and adults.

After School clubs for children between the ages of 5 and 11 take place at several of our centres on multiple evenings each week and we offer additional play programmes during the school holidays. Each of these sessions are run by qualified and experienced play workers.

"I love bringing my baby to Stay & Play, it's a lovely environment and the staff and helpers are so friendly and helpful and there is always great toast. It's great place for me and the baby to socialise."

Benefits

Our play provision enables children to develop creative, social and leadership skills in a safe environment that encourages creativity and fosters a sense of community. Play gives them confidence in their abilities, inspiration and focus for their energy, all of which have a positive impact on their lives, both at home and in school.

Play work is proven to have many social advantages. Engaging in group play allows children to develop their team-building, communication, problem-solving and negotiation skills. Play work also allows children to have a deep understanding of the world around them through different types of techniques such as role play.

Our play work provision also includes a lot of work with food, encouraging children to learn new skills and to develop a knowledge of healthy eating. Our use of food within these sessions is really helpful to parents as we often provide a hot meal for the children to eat, easing some of the pressure at home.

Every play session is unique and we can vary them depending on any child’s specific needs.

Parent feedback indicates that through supported play sessions their children have improved social skills, increased confidence and made new friends.  Opportunities for children to play together, have fun and be themselves play a vital role in helping them recover, build stronger relationships and feel a part of their community.
