Overview

As well as being a home for Valleys Kids’ youth arts programme, Sparc, Artist in Residence Anne Evans and the Art in the Attic Gallery, The Factory also provides studios for local arts practitioners and arts companies and has a performance space and gallery which hosts a busy schedule of local and national artists.

The Factory is a unique creative space, currently run by our Artist in Residence, Anne Culverhouse-Evans. The dynamic building hosts a variety of workshops, events and exhibitions. With a venue, gallery and several studios, The Factory is a vibrant and creative space.

The Art in the Attic gallery is a beautiful space which frequently holds magnificent visionary exhibitions by local and national artists.

In the basement, the creativity continues with a space used by ceramicist Dawn Hoban and Beccie Ford who run regular workshops. It is also home to a Men’s and Women’s Shed. It also houses hot desk art spaces for local artists and other tenants.

“The Factory has given me a base to work and develop as an artist and has been an amazing support to me through the ups and downs of life.” Dawn Hoban.

The Factory is the home of SPARC, our youth performance team. Read more about Sparc here.

"

First opened by First Minister, Carwyn Jones, in July 2011, The Factory has hosted concerts, gigs, comedy nights, theatre performances, awards evenings and more, providing access to high quality creative arts in the Rhondda Valley.

At its heart, the Factory is a community venue. It holds our visual art groups for older people once a week. Food Bag Friday is an important part of the Factory’s schedule, offering a bag of food to anyone who needs it on a Friday morning. Most recently, during the winter months, The Factory has been a ‘Safe Warm Space’ for the community, offering individuals respite from the cold weather in a time of a cost-of-living crisis.
