Trebanog – Get ready for us!

It’s Art But It’s Not is very happy to announce the re-opening of Rhiwgarn Infant School in Trebanog, with a programme of activities taking place from the 24th of August to the 2nd of September, led by the Welsh artist Owen Griffiths.

Local residents are invited to join artists, partners and designers exploring ideas related to seasons, food and making. The aim behind the inaugural two-weeks of activities is to spark transformation and reintroduce the community to a forgotten place, giving them the space and the tools to make it their own.

Activities designed by the artist Owen Griffiths include bread and pizza making, in a clay oven especially installed for the use of the community.

Art in the Attic – The Factory Launches New Exhibition

This exhibition features work from artists throughout Valleys Kids who attend the art sessions at the various centres. Penyrenglyn  (Treherbert), Penygraig, Dinas and Porth are four of the five areas in which Valleys Kids operate.

This exhibition is a taster of a selection of works that the artists produce throughout the year that culminates in an annual exhibition.

The art groups meet weekly throughout the year at their individual centres, they also get together as a combined group to visit art exhibitions in places such as Cardiff, Penarth and Bristol.

We occasionally travel further afield and have enjoyed trips to London to visit galleries and museums there.

We have the opportunity as a collaborative and inclusive art group to work with other organisations, such as Artes Mundi an internationally focused arts organisation based in Cardiff.  This gives us the chance to meet and work alongside international artists who are engaged in bespoke art projects in conjunction with other organisations such as RCT Homes (now Trivallis).

If you are interested in joining one of our groups please talk to Anne, Valleys Kids Artist in Residence based at the Factory.
