Rhydyfelin Communities First
The Rhydyfelin Regeneration Partnership was established in 1997, initially as a multi agency steering group, out of concern over the level of need experienced by the community. Valleys Kids were asked to become the lead voluntary organisation to support the development of a partnership approach to improving the health and well being of the children, young people and families in Rhydyfelin and Hawthorn.
2000 saw the official launch of the Rhydyfelin Regeneration Partnership and a partnership approach to mapping and researching the needs resulting in the first community action plan identifying the lack of facilities particularly for children and young people at this time.
With Community First funding in 2003 Valleys Kids were able to appoint a Community Development Co-ordinator and two staff to support the Partnership to consult with the community, active agency staff and develop a Community action Plan. This informed funding application to find the resources to combat the debilitating effects of deprivation experienced by the community.
With an admin base in Elm Street the partnership and the team continue to flourish and a lot of activity has been developed through this multi agency partnership approach.
