Penygraig & Williamstown Communities First

The Penygraig & Williamstown Partnership Communities First Partnership was established in 2002 to oversee the development of the Communities First Project in the area. Valleys Kids were invited to be the lead organisation and were able to appoint the Communities First Team, made up of a Coordinator, Community Development Worker and a Support Worker.

The Partnership carried out a comprehensive consultation with the community and various agencies. This gave the information to develop an action plan and a Partnership approach to developing the work that was being undertaken in the area to improve facilities, health and well being and services for young people and children in Penygraig & Williamstown.

The Partnership meets every 3 months and receives work reports from the Communities First Team, finance reports, discuss the Action Plan and have guest speakers such as representatives from RCT Homes, Recycle Wales and Health Organisations. It an open meeting and members of the community are encouraged to attend. There is a Steering Group that meets 6 weekly and oversees the immediate work of the Partnership.

The present Chair of the Partnership is Pat Campbell who has been on the Steering Group for a couple of years and has been Chair since 2007. Pat has been an active member of the community getting involved in a variety of projects including producing a calendar and cooking with the children at playsceme.
