Devised by The Penyrenglyn Drama Workshop Supported by Tegan Waites
Penyrenglyn Drama Workshop have been very busy devising the story of The Secret Tree during our weekly sessions over the last few months, they have created a fantastic secret tree journal and have attended weekend residential’s to further develop their story. The group have also been working in the forest at the Penyrenglyn Project, which became their inspiration to enter this magical world and begin developing the story of The Secret Tree.
There was an informal sharing of the work on Sunday 6th December in The Penyrenglyn Project, which showed the beginning of the process and the developing story. The group worked over two weekends and during weekly sessions to prepare their excellent magical presentation, which was then performed and well received by a capacity audience.
The Penyrenglyn Drama Workshop will be continuing the development of their story this term by using role work and devising techniques during regular weekly sessions and planned residencies, culminating in a full-scale production later on this year. The group hope to discover the meaning behind the riddle and then discover the answers they need to solve the mystery of the secret tree.
This is the beginning of our journey, a journey to a magical and wonderful place where riddles and colourful magic really do come alive!
Whom ever openeth this ancient golden box, must solve
the magical mystery of the secret coloured Knott.
Complete this quest by next noon’s eve
or else darkness and gloom will in deed succeed.
Join us on our magical story of secrets and discovery. As the story unravels we meet Leavi an abandoned young boy who gets lost in the woods and Rowan a strange old lady that lives in the secret tree deep within the forest.
Rowan and Leavi search a colourful world for clues to solve the puzzling quest. Will they succeed in releasing the magic of the secret tree held within the ancient golden box, before the end of next noon’s eve? Or will darkness prevail? Join us on this fantastic adventure to help us solve the riddle of the secret box and release Rowan from her families spell.
