Fio and ArtWorks Valleys Kids presents SWARM @ The Factory
Jul 28 @ 7:00 pm

Fio are developing an interactive, immersive live theatre performance inviting audiences in to explore and interact with characters whose stories explain why they have left everything and risked it all for a better life.

A site specific, multi-form theatrical performance examining migration, identity and belonging, bringing to the fore a relevant and pertinent issue into communities and asking them to empathise and place themselves in other people’s shoes.

The initial version of this show saw them work with a cast of professionals and community cast of young people and older performers and put on 5 sold out shows in Butetown History and Arts Centre, here is what the critics said:

ArtWorks and Valleys Cinema presents Fire at Sea @ Soar Centre
Sep 4 @ 6:30 pm

Situated some 200km off Italy’s southern coast, Lampedusa has hit world headlines in recent years as the first port of call for hundreds of thousands of African and Middle Eastern migrants hoping to make a new life in Europe. Rosi spent months living on the Mediterranean island, capturing its history, culture and the current everyday reality of its 6,000-strong local population as hundreds of migrants land on its shores on a weekly basis. The resulting documentary focuses on 12-year-old Samuele, a local boy who loves to hunt with his slingshot and spend time on land even though he hails from a culture steeped in the sea.

We are so proud to bring Fire at Sea to communities in RCT with the support of ICA and their crossing project.  To book your sea please contact Claire on 01443 303032

Friday 4th August 18.30 – Soar Centre, Penygraig
