Income
The income we reached this year reached over £2.3 million, but over £500,000 was for the capital building improvements to the Soar Centre.
Many people supported our work with regular donations and one-off gifts. Companies also contributed with money and work in kind. We would not have achieved our continued success without their contribution. Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council support remains crucial for our work and the Wales Assembly Government funding via Communities First is essential if we are to tackle the causes of poverty in some of the most deprived communities in Europe.
Expenditure
The expenditure on activities with children and families rose by 6% this year and allowed us to develop our services in new areas. The majority of our expenditure is in our Community Projects. These are based in some of the most disadvantaged areas in South Wales and the support we provide makes a real difference to the children and families in those areas. In the end these figures translate into services and activites for individuals whose lives are transformed by the support offered by our staff and volunteers.
The Valleys of South Wales are changing, but there is a danger that some individuals and communities will be left behind in the general improvement. We work in partnership with these communities and other agencies to help find solutions to the problems that still exist for some people.
Charitable Spending
The money we spend is only part of the answer. It only provides a framework of support for people to solve the problems themselves.
